(DEBALTSEVE, DONETSK) – A major logistical asset belonging to the Russian occupation forces was destroyed on Tuesday evening, 20 January 2026, following a high precision strike in the city of Debaltseve.

The target, a significant ammunition depot, was situated within the grounds of a local metallurgical enterprise in the central district of the city. Debaltseve has served as a critical rail and road junction for the Russian military since it fell under their control in 2015, making it a primary node for the distribution of hardware across the Donetsk sector.

Satellite imagery released on 22 January confirms the total destruction of the primary storage facility. Reports indicate that the blast was severe enough to cause heavy structural damage to a secondary building located approximately 100 metres from the epicentre. Local witnesses described a massive initial explosion followed by several hours of secondary detonations as the stored ordnance caught fire.

The intensity of the “cook-off” resulted in widespread disruption for the local population. Approximately 50 residential homes sustained damage from shockwaves and falling debris. In response, the Russian occupation administration directed residents to remain indoors and avoid windows for several hours. Furthermore, local schools have been forced to transition to remote learning due to the presence of unexploded shells and hazardous debris scattered throughout the surrounding residential neighbourhoods.

Public transport services in the city were suspended the following day as emergency teams attempted to clear the site. This operation by Ukrainian forces follows a series of systematic strikes against Russian supply lines, including a similar successful hit in Makiivka earlier this month.

In neutralising this hub, the Ukrainian military has significantly hampered the ability of the Russian dictator to resupply frontline units with the artillery and rockets necessary for offensive operations.
