Yesterday evening, explosions rocked Russia’s Oryol Oblast as a Ukrainian missile reportedly struck the Oryol Thermal Power Plant and surrounding energy infrastructure. Videos circulating online appear to capture the moment of impact, showing flashes and blasts consistent with missile strikes.
The explosions triggered power outages in Oryol and nearby Belgorod, affecting electricity and water supplies across several districts. Local residents reported hearing loud booms, and social media footage shows plumes of smoke rising from the site.
Russian authorities initially claimed that debris from downed drones had caused some of the damage. However, independent observers and analysts point to the blast patterns and footage as evidence of a missile impact rather than drone activity.
The strike is part of a broader Ukrainian campaign targeting Russian energy infrastructure, aimed at disrupting industrial operations and military logistics deep inside Russian territory.
