(SUMY REGION, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian defence forces destroyed approximately 300 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles over the Sumy region in the past 24 hours, as Russian troops continued a sustained campaign of drone attacks targeting civilian infrastructure across the region’s communities.

Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported the figures on his Telegram channel. He stated that the Ukrainian military is working around the clock to destroy aerial targets and protect the region’s residents.

“Sincere gratitude to our defenders for their professional and extremely important work in protecting the skies of the Sumy region,” Hryhorov noted.

Despite the significant number of downed drones, Hryhorov emphasised that Russian attacks do not stop. Hits on civilian infrastructure have been recorded in the region.

“Russians are deliberately terrorising the civilian population and communities of the region,” stated the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

The Regional Military Administration urged residents to remain in shelters or safe places during air raid alerts. The report stressed that even drones shot down or suppressed by electronic warfare means can pose a danger due to the risk of falling debris or detonation.

The intensive Russian drone campaign over Sumy region came on the same day Ukrainian forces reported destroying 1,603 operational tactical level drones across all frontlines, while a separate drone strike hit a kindergarten in the centre of Sumy city earlier in the month.
