(SUMY OBLAST) – Ukrainian border guards say they have repelled a Russian assault in the northern Slobozhanskyi direction, inflicting losses and forcing the attacking group to withdraw.
According to Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service, personnel from the “Destruction Team” unit of the rapid response border commandant’s office of the 5th Border Detachment are carrying out combat missions in the sector.
The unit reported that a recent attempt by Russian forces to conduct an assault on Ukrainian defensive positions was disrupted. Coordinated and professional actions by the border guards led to losses among the attacking troops, after which the Russian group retreated.
Ukrainian forces also said they identified and destroyed Russian communication antennas and control systems used for unmanned aerial vehicles. This, they said, significantly complicated the enemy’s ability to conduct aerial reconnaissance and coordinate operations.
The State Border Guard Service said it continues to play a key role in defending Ukraine’s borders as part of the country’s Defence Forces.
The service also called on recruits to join the 5th Border Detachment, describing service as a border guard as offering responsibility and stability.
Video footage of the engagement was released by the Press Service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, filmed in Sumy Oblast.
