(JUBA) – Cardinal Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla, the head of the Catholic Church in South Sudan, has appointed Rev. Br. Dr. Bruno Dada as the new Vice Chancellor of the Catholic University of South Sudan. The appointment was made in an official letter dated 15 July 2025.
Cardinal Ameyu, who also serves as President of the Sudan and South Sudan Catholic Bishops Conference, made the decision to promote Dr. Dada, who has served as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the same institution.
Dr. Dada will officially assume his new role on 1 September 2025. He succeeds Dr. Matthew Pagan, who has held the top academic post at the university for 12 years.
The Catholic University of South Sudan was established in 2008 and remains one of the country’s first and most prominent private universities. It plays an important role in providing higher education in a country still rebuilding its education sector after years of conflict.
Dr. Dada’s appointment is expected to bring continuity to the university’s academic development, with a focus on enhancing research, expanding programmes, and increasing student access.
No salary details were disclosed.
The Catholic Church has been a leading provider of education and social services in South Sudan, particularly in areas where government resources remain limited.
