(JUBA) – South One Digital TV has announced that Equator Broadcasting Corporation Television is now officially hosted on its platform as part of its Free To Air channel offering, a move that signals growing investment and competition in South Sudan’s digital broadcasting and media market.
In a statement issued in Juba, South One Digital TV said EBC TV is now available to viewers at no cost, with no subscription required. The channel can be accessed through a standard digital television with an antenna or via the South One decoder, where it joins other free channels available on the platform.
The development is expected to strengthen the position of South One Digital TV as a local digital broadcaster while increasing the reach of EBC TV to households across South Sudan. Media analysts say wider access to local television content can support advertising growth, stimulate demand for digital equipment, and create new opportunities for local content producers and service providers.
South One Digital TV acknowledged the support of the Office of the Governor of Central Equatoria State, led by Governor Emmanuel Adil, and the Office of the Minister of Information of Central Equatoria State, Hon Nyarsuk Patrick James. The company also credited the EBC administration, the South Sudan Media Authority, and Digital Intelligence Ltd for their cooperation in enabling the hosting of the channel.
The company said the inclusion of EBC TV aligns with its business strategy of supporting South Sudanese media houses while promoting public access to information through affordable digital services. By offering the channel free of charge, South One aims to attract more viewers to its platform, potentially increasing future demand for value added services and advertising partnerships.
Industry observers note that the expansion of Free To Air digital channels is part of a wider shift in South Sudan’s media sector, as broadcasters and technology firms invest in digital transmission to reach a growing urban and peri urban audience. The move also reflects ongoing efforts by regulators and government institutions to encourage local media growth and formalise the broadcasting market.
South One Digital TV said it remains committed to national development by supporting local media enterprises and improving access to information for businesses and households. The company operates offices at Seven Days Roundabout in Atika Building opposite UNOCHA and at UAP Equatoria Tower in Hai Neem, serving both customers and commercial partners.
