(JUBA) – The Ministry of Finance and Planning has confirmed that salaries for September 2025 have been fully processed and paid to civil servants and organised forces across South Sudan.
In a statement issued on 24 September, the ministry said the payments were completed in line with a directive from the Vice President for the Economic Cluster, who had instructed that all wages must be settled by the 24th of each month. Transfers were also made to the states and administrative areas to ensure staff in all regions received their salaries on time.
The move is part of the government’s efforts to improve financial discipline and restore confidence in the public sector after years of delays in salary payments. The Ministry of Finance said it remains committed to implementing key economic reforms, which are aimed at strengthening recovery and improving service delivery across the country.
Officials added that timely payment of wages is seen as essential for maintaining stability and supporting household incomes, especially as inflation continues to weigh heavily on South Sudanese families.
With $1 trading at around 7,100 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) in September 2025, public servants in Juba and across the counties rely heavily on predictable salaries to cope with rising costs of food, fuel and basic goods.
The Ministry of Finance noted that these measures form part of wider economic reforms, which include tighter expenditure controls, efforts to increase domestic revenue, and commitments to ensure timely disbursement of public funds.
