(JUBA) – The National Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang, met with the Western Equatoria State Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. Haim Paul, at her office in Juba on November 5, 2025. The visit focused on strengthening trade capacity and exploring opportunities for fruit processing in the state.
The State Minister delivered a letter and conveyed greetings from the Governor of Western Equatoria. He formally requested guidance and directives from the National Ministry on capacity building initiatives for the state ministry.
Minister Atong welcomed the State Minister and thanked the Government of Western Equatoria for its ongoing efforts. She confirmed that the National Ministry is committed to supporting all state ministries to enhance trade and economic development.
Highlighting the region’s potential, Minister Atong noted that Western Equatoria is rich in natural resources, particularly fruits. She added that the National Ministry has been engaging with international organisations to support the establishment of fruit processing factories in the state.
Minister Atong also informed the State Minister that the National Ministry plans to convene a meeting with all State Ministers and Administrative Areas. The meeting will focus on addressing shared challenges and coordinating efforts to improve trade facilitation across South Sudan.
