(JUBA) – A ten day training programme for procurement officers from various government institutions has concluded in Juba, with participants urged to implement the core principles of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDAA).
The training, organised by the PPDAA, brought together officers from multiple government agencies in the capital to strengthen their skills in procurement management, accountability, and asset disposal.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Ayii Bol Akol, Chairperson of the PPDAA Board of Directors, emphasised the authority’s commitment to capacity building. He encouraged participants to serve as ambassadors of good procurement practice in their respective institutions, upholding transparency and accountability in line with PPDAA regulations.
“Ensure that you promote the principles of transparency, accountability, and efficiency in all procurement activities,” Ayii said. “Your role is critical in implementing the authority’s mandate across government.”
Hon. Deng Akuei Kak, Executive Director of PPDAA, noted that the authority operates within the financial framework provided by the Ministry of Finance and Planning. He highlighted that effective management of assets and procurement processes is key to reducing mismanagement and promoting efficiency across government institutions.
Other speakers at the closing ceremony included Ajang Deng Daniel, Director of Performance Monitoring and Audit, and Pitia John Michael, Director of Capacity Building and Advisory Services, who addressed the participants on the importance of compliance, ethical standards, and continual professional development.
The training sessions covered topics such as procurement regulations, asset disposal, budget alignment, and practical strategies for monitoring and auditing procurement processes. Participants also engaged in practical exercises and case studies to reinforce learning outcomes.

According to the Finance Ministry, the programme reflects South Sudan’s ongoing efforts to enhance the effectiveness of public procurement, ensure responsible management of government assets, and strengthen accountability in line with national financial regulations.
