(Wau) – The Bahr el Ghazal Counties’ League (BCL) Board of Directors has issued a strong condemnation and summons against 16 county chairpersons and their alliances.

This action follows their decision to rename the BCL to the Bahr El Ghazal Counties’ Peace Tournament (BCPT) without prior consultation or approval.

In a statement dated June 30, 2025, the BCL Board of Directors resolved to condemn the chairpersons in the strongest possible terms for what they describe as an attempt to change the league’s name for personal interests.

The board has also summoned all chairpersons and their signatory allies to appear before the central division to account for their decision.

Failure to comply will result in the matter being escalated to the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) and subsequently to court for “hijacking and plagiarism.”

The statement further emphasized that in the spirit of sportsmanship and Bahr el Ghazal unity, the board urges those involved to notify the Ministry of Sport and SSFA, National Security, and the wider population of Bahr el Ghazal regarding the intensified and escalating situation between the two groups.

The BCL leadership has also expressed concern over what it terms a “heinous national insecurity setup,” alleging that some security personnel are threatening and questioning the security situation in Juba in an attempt to subvert their intentions.

The statement concludes by asserting that the masterminds of these actions will be held accountable, with further details to be made available shortly.

The statement was signed by Peter Mawuon Dhuol Aker, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
