(JUBA COUNTY) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued a new series of presidential decrees on Wednesday, removing and appointing senior government officials, lawmakers, and diplomats, with many changes affecting members of the SPLM-In Opposition (SPLM-IO).
In the Ministry of Finance, Kiir relieved Bech George Anyak from his post as Deputy Minister and appointed Hon. Yien Chan Gach Ruei as his replacement.
Several SPLM-IO members in key legislative positions had their appointments revoked. These include:

The president also appointed new SPLM-IO representatives to legislative bodies. In the Council of States, the new members are Daniel Akot Akot and Wani Elia. In the TNLA, the appointees include John Oto Mariane, Malong Achirian, Julia, and Peter Charlaman.

In addition to legislative changes, President Kiir dismissed four ambassadors from South Sudan’s foreign missions. Those relieved of their duties are John Andruga, Mayen Dut Wol, Riek, and Joshua Franco Paul.
