MTN Launches Affordable 4G Smartphone With Free Data Offer

(JUBA) – MTN South Sudan has introduced a new smartphone, the MTN Giyafa, designed to meet the growing demand for affordable and reliable digital devices in the country. The company says the new model combines modern style with high-speed connectivity, offering customers a balance of functionality and value.

The MTN Giyafa is equipped with 4G speed for faster internet access, a high-definition camera for clear photos and videos, and dual SIM capacity for users who require flexible network options. The phone is priced at 320,000 South Sudanese Pounds, which is equivalent to about 70 US Dollars at the official exchange rate of 1 USD to 4,600 SSP in August 2025.

Customers purchasing the device will also receive 2GB of free data valid for seven days, giving them an immediate opportunity to experience the smartphone’s internet features without extra cost. According to MTN, the promotion reflects the company’s commitment to expanding digital access and supporting connectivity in South Sudan.

The MTN Giyafa is available at all MTN Customer Service Points (CSPs) across the country, making it accessible to a wide range of customers in both urban and rural markets. The company expects the launch to contribute to improved smartphone penetration, which remains relatively low compared with neighbouring countries, and to encourage more people to adopt internet-based services.
