(Juba) – The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Ambassador Akuei Bona Malwal, held a courtesy meeting on 30 June 2025 with representatives of the South Sudan Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The delegation was led by Mr. Mohamed Babiker, Head of Delegation for the IFRC in South Sudan.

During the meeting, the Red Cross team provided a detailed update on their ongoing humanitarian operations across South Sudan. They also raised several operational challenges faced while delivering assistance in sectors such as health, disaster response, and community based support. The discussion reflected the critical role that both the South Sudan Red Cross and IFRC continue to play in addressing humanitarian needs across the country.

In response, Ambassador Malwal expressed the Government of South Sudan’s appreciation for the organisations’ continued presence and efforts to support vulnerable communities. He acknowledged the challenges shared and assured the delegation of the government’s willingness to support effective humanitarian coordination.

The meeting concluded with a positive exchange of views on future areas of cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to maintaining strong working relations, aimed at enhancing the impact of humanitarian assistance and strengthening resilience in South Sudan.
