(JUBA) – Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel has returned to Juba after a three day working visit to the United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Bol Mel and his delegation were welcomed at Juba International Airport by senior government officials, including the Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater, the Minister of Mining, Maj. Gen. Martin Abucha Gama, and the Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Onyoti Adigo Nyikec.

Speaking to the press, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Monday Semaya Kumba, described the UAE visit as a major success, building on the groundwork laid by President Salva Kiir Mayardit during his recent UAE visits.

The engagements have reportedly strengthened bilateral relations, highlighted South Sudan’s economic potential, and created new avenues for cooperation expected to benefit the country’s citizens.

During the visit, Dr. Bol Mel witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Bank of South Sudan and the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates.

This agreement is expected to enhance monetary cooperation and provide new opportunities for investment and economic growth.

In addition, the Vice President held high level meetings aimed at attracting foreign investment across key sectors. Officials indicated that the visit has laid the foundation for initiatives that could increase South Sudan’s visibility as an investment destination in the region.
