(DONETSK) – The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the destruction of a critical Russian military facility in the vicinity of Donetsk Airport using ATACMS and SCALP missiles. The targeted site served as a storage, preparation and launch facility for Shahed type attack drones. The operation was a coordinated effort by the Missile Forces and Artillery of the Ground Forces alongside the Air Force. Video footage released by the General Staff shows a large scale fire and significant secondary detonations at the site.

In addition to the strike near the airport, Ukrainian forces executed a series of operations on 6 March and the early hours of 7 March to degrade Russian combat potential. These strikes hit an occupier drone control point near Dibrova in the Luhansk region and a command post in the Kruhliakivka area of the Kharkiv region. Further hits were recorded on Russian artillery assets at firing positions in Tavilzhanka, Voskresenka and Novopavlivka. Concentration areas for Russian manpower were also targeted in Novohryhorivka, Zaliznychne, Torske and Sopych.

Ukrainian officials stated that the systematic destruction of drone control points and artillery positions weakens the ability of the Russian dictator to control units and prepare offensive actions. The General Staff also confirmed damage to two Russian frigates, Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov, earlier in the week.
