(JUBA) – South Sudan Tightens Airside Access at Juba International Airport

The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has issued a public notice restricting access to the airside area of Juba International Airport (JIA). The authority said the move is aimed at ensuring safety, security, and orderly operations at the country’s main aviation hub.

Under the notice, no individual or vehicle is allowed to enter the airside without valid authorisation and an official SSCAA-issued permit. Permits include the Airside Vehicle Permit (AVP), the Airport Restricted Area Permit (ARO), and any other access authorisation approved by the authority.

The restrictions apply to all persons and vehicles except the President of the Republic of South Sudan, the Vice Presidents, and their officially designated vehicles.

The SSCAA warned that unauthorised access will be treated as a serious violation of aviation safety and security regulations and will attract legal prosecution. The authority urged public cooperation to maintain safety standards and prevent disruptions to airport operations.

Officials also highlighted the role of security agencies in enforcing the measures. The notice was copied to Aviation Security (AVSEC), the National Security Service, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and Military Intelligence at JIA.
