(JUBA COUNTY) –
The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has ordered all aircraft operators at Juba International Airport (HJJJ) to remove grounded or unserviceable planes within 30 days. The directive was issued in an official circular dated 10 January 2026.
The move comes under the Civil Aviation Authority Act of 2012 and its regulations, in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. SSCAA said abandoned or non-operational aircraft on taxiways, runways, aprons, or other non-designated areas create serious safety and operational risks. They also limit the efficient use of airport infrastructure.
The authority emphasised that taxiways and movement areas at Juba International Airport are not for parking under any circumstances. Aircraft owners are expected to coordinate all recovery, towing, relocation, repair, export, or disposal with Airport Operations Management and other relevant authorities.
SSCAA warned that failure to comply within the 30-day period could lead to enforcement action. This may include the removal of aircraft at the operator’s expense, recovery of associated costs, and other measures to maintain aerodrome safety and efficiency.
Dr. Ayiei Garang Deng Ayiei, Director General of SSCAA, said the directive is effective immediately and called on operators to act quickly to ensure compliance.
