(JUBA) – The National Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang, officially opened the Beijing Supermarket in Juba on Friday, 15 August 2025, marking another step in the growing economic relationship between South Sudan and China.

Speaking at the launch, the Minister expressed appreciation to the stakeholders of Beijing Hotel, the company behind the supermarket, for their continued investment in South Sudan. She praised China’s role as a long-standing partner, highlighting contributions in roads, petroleum, healthcare, and education.

Minister Manyang described the supermarket as both convenient and strategically placed for residents, while also stressing its economic value. The store is expected to generate jobs for South Sudanese workers and increase government revenue.

She urged other foreign and local investors to follow this example, assuring them of full government backing for business ventures in the country. The Minister also encouraged the Chinese business community to use more South Sudanese products, saying this would further stimulate the domestic economy.

The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, including the Director General of Domestic Trade and the Director General of Bilateral Trade.

The Beijing Supermarket joins a growing list of Chinese investments in South Sudan.
