(CHERNIHIV REGION, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian border guard units have destroyed a Russian mobile fire group during a night time drone strike, despite the presence of electronic warfare measures.
According to the State Border Guard Service, the enemy unit had moved into position under cover of darkness, supported by electronic warfare systems. However, a sudden strike by drone operators from the 105th Border Guard Detachment, named after Prince Volodymyr, neutralised the target.
The attack resulted in the destruction of vehicles, weapons, ammunition and equipment belonging to Russian forces. An artillery piece located nearby was also struck during the operation.
Among the destroyed assets were a GAZ vehicle equipped with electronic warfare systems, a heavy machine gun and associated ammunition, a URAL vehicle carrying electronic warfare equipment and ammunition, and a Msta B 2A65 152 millimetre artillery gun.
The State Border Guard Service said it continues to expand the use of modern weapons and equipment, including unmanned aerial vehicles ranging from light FPV drones to heavier systems such as Vampire platforms. Drone pilots undergo continuous training and update their technical and tactical knowledge to improve operational effectiveness.
Officials said the skill and competence of UAV operators are creating significant challenges for Russian forces and contributing to the protection of Ukraine’s border.
The service also invited prospective recruits to join its ranks, offering training, financial support and the necessary equipment. Further information on contract military service is available through the Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment recruitment unit.
Footage of the operation was released by the press service of the State Border Guard.
