(JUBA) – Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony of Central Equatoria State and Governor James Al Taib Berapai of Western Equatoria State have committed to enhancing cooperation between their states, focusing on unity, development, and security. The meeting took place in Juba on 8 December 2025.
Governor Al Taib visited Central Equatoria as a courtesy call, congratulating Governor Adil for securing the trust of President Salva Kiir. The two leaders exchanged ideas on strengthening collaboration between the “sisterly” states, highlighting the importance of regional unity, shared development, and mutual benefits for citizens.
During discussions, both governors emphasised preparations for next year’s elections, calling for mass mobilisation for peace and stability. They underlined the need for a secure environment to allow citizens to fully engage in agriculture, trade, and other development activities. Both leaders pledged continued mutual support to maintain progress and stability across their states.
In a related development, the Central Equatoria State Security Committee (CESSC) adopted a newly revised 15-member structure during an extraordinary meeting on 8 December 2025. Previously, the committee included more than 15 members from various security organs. Governor Adil, who chairs the committee, led the restructuring process.
The committee also reaffirmed its schedule of holding ordinary security meetings every Tuesday to review pressing security concerns, provide updates, and recommend solutions to protect citizens and property. The committee’s work remains critical in maintaining stability across Central Equatoria State.
