(JUBA) – The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority said a letter circulating online claiming to come from the Director General’s office is a forgery and was intended to mislead the public and damage the institution’s reputation.

In a press statement issued in Juba, the Authority said the document, which uses its official letterhead, stamp imitation, and a forged signature, falsely claims that the Director General instructed the Chief Executive Officer of NAVPASS to allocate USD 3.5 million every month to seven senior government officials. The Authority said this claim was false, misleading, and not supported by any administrative or financial procedure within the aviation sector.

Officials said the forged document showed several clear signs of fabrication. They explained that the date on the letter was written as 1 May 2025 while the stamp attached to it carried a February 2025 date, a contradiction that the Authority said was an obvious sign of forgery. The Authority also said the Director General’s title was wrongly presented as Chief Executive Officer, a designation that is not used for that office within the institution.

According to the statement, all official correspondence from the Authority carries a unique reference number, but the forged letter had none. Officials added that both the stamp and the signature on the document did not match any authenticated official stamp or signature used by the Authority.

The Civil Aviation Authority said strict internal protocols make the claims in the forged document impossible and inconsistent with the institution’s financial and administrative processes.

The organisation called on citizens, partners, and the media to ignore the letter and rely only on official communication channels. It said relevant security and legal institutions were now working with the Authority to trace the source of the forgery and take action against those responsible.

The Authority said it remained committed to transparency, accountability, and the development of South Sudan’s aviation sector.
