(Juba) — South Sudanese artist Lady Kola has released the official music video for her hit single “Duk Nhom Maar”, a song that many fans are calling the country’s first true entry into the continental urban soundscape.

The release is being celebrated across Africa, with growing comparisons to South Africa’s Amapiano and Nigeria’s Afrobeats.

The song blends traditional South Sudanese rhythms with modern electronic and urban beats and is being hailed as a bold step forward for South Sudan’s music industry.

Since its release, the “Duk Nhom Maar” video has attracted widespread attention online.

Music critics and fans have praised Lady Kola for maintaining authentic local roots while exploring fresh, danceable production styles that appeal to wider African and global audiences.

The track whose title translates to “Take Me As I Am” in English has been described as confident, catchy, and creatively produced.

Social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok have helped fuel the song’s popularity.

The official music video, available here, is being widely shared by fans, many of whom have described it as the unofficial anthem of a new wave of South Sudanese urban music.

The artist has not publicly disclosed the production costs of the video, but similar high quality music video projects in the region can cost anywhere between 1.5 million and 5 million SSP (USD $320–$1,075) depending on the production team, location, and post production work.

Lady Kola’s team has not announced whether a full album will follow.
