(Juba) – Young people from the Greater Gogrial region gathered on Sunday at Savanna Hotel in Buluk, Juba, for a special intellectual forum aimed at discussing youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and development in their communities.
The forum, organised by the Greater Gogrial Youth Intellectuals, brought together students, professionals, civil servants, and community leaders from across the region.
Participants engaged in thoughtful conversations on how young people can contribute meaningfully to peace, reconciliation, and social progress both in Gogrial and the wider Warrap State.
Several keynote speakers addressed the gathering, urging the youth to use their education, ideas, and energy to promote peace and reject violence. Panellists also discussed how the youth can take part in nation building by engaging in dialogue, investing in skills development, and supporting community-driven initiatives.
The event was attended by guests from academic institutions, civil society organisations, and members of the public service, many of whom praised the organisers for creating a space for intellectual exchange among young South Sudanese.
Participants shared proposals on improving education access, reducing youth unemployment, encouraging entrepreneurship, and enhancing cultural awareness.
The role of women and girls in leadership and education was also a major topic, with speakers calling for equal inclusion and support for female youth in decision making processes.
The gathering ended with a renewed commitment by the youth of Greater Gogrial to lead with wisdom, unity, and responsibility. Organisers said such forums would continue to be held regularly as part of efforts to strengthen youth leadership and encourage community dialogue.
No entry fee was charged for the event, and refreshments were provided courtesy of local well wishers. The forum did not mention any official funding, although participants called on government officials and diaspora members to support future youth development efforts.
