Following heavy rainfall on Monday night, a health facility and airstrip in Ganyliel, the headquarters of Panyijiar County, have been inundated, leading to the evacuation of twenty-four patients, as reported by local officials.

Peter Yoak, the county health director, revealed on Tuesday that the primary health care center (PHCC) was submerged in water, causing distress to patients. He stated that the facility remained flooded, impacting the well-being of those seeking medical assistance.

Yoak disclosed that due to the complete flooding of the compound, the patients had to be moved to higher ground within the town. Unfortunately, the surrounding water made it impossible to relocate them elsewhere.

In light of the urgent situation, Yoak made a plea to the state and national governments for assistance, specifically requesting generators for pumping out the water from the facility and airstrip compound.

Gideon Makuach, a resident of Ganyliel Payam, confirmed that the flooding was solely due to heavy rainfall and not river overflow. He supported the call for generators to assist in managing the water levels within the compound.
