(JUBA CITY) – The management of Juba International Airport has announced that all passenger arrivals will temporarily be redirected to Terminal 2 as renovation work continues at the main Arrivals Terminal.
The change, which took effect on 17 September 2025, is aimed at ensuring smooth passenger handling while the upgrade of the main terminal is ongoing. Airport officials have said the relocation is temporary and forms part of a wider plan to modernise the airport and improve services.
General Manager of Juba International Airport, Eng. Mosety Kat Monyjok, said the work is expected to strengthen efficiency and provide a better experience for passengers. He apologised for any inconvenience caused and urged travellers, airlines, and airport users to take note of the changes when planning their movements.
The renovation project comes at a time when South Sudan is seeking to strengthen its transport infrastructure to support economic growth and regional connectivity.
Juba International Airport is the country’s main gateway for business and international travel. Upgrading the airport is seen as an important step in improving South Sudan’s ability to attract investment, tourism, and trade.
The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA), which oversees the airport, has in recent weeks prioritised safety and service improvements. The current works are in line with those efforts, targeting not only passenger facilities but also operational efficiency for airlines.
Air travel remains vital for South Sudan, given the limited state of the road network and seasonal flooding which often restricts ground transport. Juba International Airport plays a central role in connecting the country with regional hubs.
