(Juba) – Emmanuel Christian University (ECU), a growing institution of higher education in Yei County, has concluded a strategic council meeting in the capital, Juba, with a renewed focus on long term development.

The session held at Rainbow Hotel brought together key university leaders and planning experts to shape the institution’s Five-Year Strategic Plan for 2025–2030.

The meeting was chaired by Canon George William, Chairperson of the ECU Council, whose leadership has underlined ECU’s expanding partnerships both within the region and internationally.

The Council meeting attracted a team of strategic planning specialists from Kenya, including Fai Kabiru, Marien Anot, and Dr Zablon Bondi.

Senior members of the university’s council were also in attendance. Among them were Dr Arikangelo Wani Lemi, Dr Gillian Kasirye, and Advocate Dr Santino Yomon.

Vice Chancellor Daniel Ohide travelled from Yei, where the university’s main campus is located, to lead ECU’s delegation in Juba. In his address to the Council, he shared key updates on the university’s achievements and ongoing projects, which provided the foundation for a forward looking discussion.

At the centre of the meeting was the formal adoption of Emmanuel Christian University’s new Five Year Strategic Plan. The document, which spans 2025 to 2030, sets out priorities in academic advancement, infrastructure growth, community engagement, and institutional sustainability.

Vice Chancellor Ohide described the new strategy as a “declaration of shared commitment,” and noted its alignment with both South Sudan’s national development goals and international standards in higher education.

“This plan is not just a document,” he said. “It is our shared commitment to build a future where Emmanuel Christian University becomes a cornerstone of transformation in South Sudan.”

There was broad agreement that the future of the university must rest not only on expanding academic offerings but also on building an institution of moral integrity and societal relevance.

The strategic council meeting is expected to mark the beginning of a new phase for ECU, as it moves to implement its goals with guidance from the newly adopted roadmap.
