(BOR COUNTY) – Authorities in Bor County, Jonglei State, have confirmed that one person was injured and an unspecified number of cattle raided in separate incidents in Baidit Payam on Tuesday night.

According to Bor County Commissioner, Hon. James Ghai Makhor, the victim was ambushed and shot while returning from Jalle Payam. He sustained gunshot wounds and is now receiving treatment at Bor Hospital, where his condition has been reported as stable.

In a separate incident on the same night, cattle were stolen from Pagook. Commissioner Ghai explained that the number of animals taken has not yet been established, as residents are still reporting missing livestock. “There are cattle that are said to be missing following the incident. We do not know their number exactly because everyone is still claiming some of their cows are missing. The young men are pursuing the attackers,” he said.

The commissioner condemned the attacks and called for peaceful co-existence between Jonglei State and the Greater Pibor Administrative Area. Earlier this month, the two administrations held a peace conference that brought together local leaders and community representatives to promote reconciliation and reduce cycles of violence.
