(JUBA CITY) – A high level delegation from the Office of the President of the Republic of South Sudan visited Juba International Airport on 10 September 2025 to review ongoing infrastructure development and operational enhancement projects. The visit was led by Ambassador Sebit B. Kamonde who stressed the government’s commitment to modernising the country’s aviation sector.
The delegation was formally received by the Senior Management of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA), including Hon. John Woja Elinana, Director General of SSCAA, and Eng. Kat Mosety Monyjok, Acting General Manager of Juba International Airport.
During the inspection, the delegation conducted a detailed tour of critical facilities, including the Parking Area, Passenger Terminals, Fire Brigade Station, Generator and JEDCO City Power Site and the Air Navigation Services Centre. The tour highlighted ongoing upgrades in infrastructure, enhanced operational systems and improved service delivery.
Aviation officials said in a statement online that the delegation expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved and commended the SSCAA for implementing strategic improvements. It also added that the visit reinforced the government’s focus on aviation as a key driver of economic growth, regional connectivity and trade facilitation in South Sudan.
SSCAA earlier reported that the latest airport upgrades are expected to boost passenger experience, support cargo operations, and attract international airlines, positioning Juba International Airport as a regional aviation hub.
The government delegation emphasised that investment in aviation infrastructure forms part of a broader strategy to stimulate trade, tourism and business development.
