The South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) have officially received a refurbished military justice and district courthouse at Bilpam Headquarters, thanks to the assistance of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

During the handover ceremony, SSPDF Spokesperson Major General Lul Ruai Koang expressed his optimism that the upgraded facility would significantly improve the functioning of the military justice system.

Major General Koang highlighted the crucial role of the military justice director in ensuring the apprehension and detention of suspects. He stressed the importance of collaboration between military justice directors, intelligence units, and enforcement mechanisms to guarantee accountability.

The Major General also noted that the combined efforts of these key actors had been commended in reports from New York, highlighting the progress made in military justice and the increased accountability of servicemen.

In a similar vein, Acting Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant General Morris Yuhannis, lauded the inauguration of this new courthouse, citing its ability to enhance justice delivery for members of the military.
