(DONETSK, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian Special Operations Forces carried out a series of precision strikes on Russian military targets in occupied parts of Donetsk region overnight on 18 March, according to official statements.
The operations targeted a unit identified as “Rubikon”, described as a covert Russian centre for unmanned aerial technologies. Long range drones struck the unit’s base in Donetsk city as well as a command element responsible for its operations.
Ukrainian forces also reported hitting a coordination centre used to manage Russian drone units in the occupied city. The strikes form part of a wider effort to disrupt Moscow’s use of unmanned systems on the battlefield.
In the occupied settlement of Vilne, Ukrainian forces struck ammunition depots along with storage facilities for military equipment and supplies. A site used for the accumulation and distribution of ammunition was also hit.
The Special Operations Forces said the strikes were part of ongoing “Middle Strike” operations aimed at degrading Russian military infrastructure in occupied Ukrainian territory.
The operations were supported by members of the Ukrainian resistance movement, who provided assistance that contributed to the success of the strikes.
Ukrainian Special Operations Forces said they continue to conduct asymmetric operations designed to weaken Russian military capacity in its war against Ukraine.
