Police have apprehended six individuals believed to be part of a criminal gang responsible for terrorizing missionary camps in Kajiado and neighbouring counties. The suspects are linked to violent robberies and the killing of a security guard.
The gang’s most recent attack took place on August 8, 2025, at the Korean Mission Camp (MCK) in Elerai, Mashuuru Sub-County. The perpetrators, dressed in stolen police uniforms, raided the compound at night, assaulting staff members and resulting in the death of a guard.
Following swift investigations, detectives arrested Muoki Mulee in Kitengela and Ambrose Mutuku near Machakos Junction on August 19. Upon searching Ambrose’s residence in Kitulu village, Machakos, police recovered police jungle fatigues suspected to have been used in the crimes, along with KSh 49,000 in cash.
It was revealed that both individuals had previous criminal records and had been released from Machakos Prison in December 2024.
The operation expanded to Kantafu, Matungulu Sub-County, where four additional suspects—Dominic Moenga Mwambi, Joseph Mamai, Gideon Nyaga Njeri, and Alex Mwaura Waweru—were apprehended. Three vehicles allegedly used as getaway cars were also seized.
The suspects are currently in police custody, awaiting court proceedings where they will be charged with offences including violent robbery and murder.
