(JUBA) – The Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Nairobi has facilitated the reconciliation of leadership within the South Sudanese Students’ Association in Kenya (SSSAK). On 15 August 2025, H.E. Ambassador Anthony Kon convened a meeting to resolve a long-standing dispute over the legitimacy of the student union, which had divided the student community for several years.
The Embassy invited the leaders of both factions to engage in constructive dialogue at its Nairobi premises. After four hours of discussions, the groups reconciled, paving the way for the establishment of a unified students’ body.
Kon praised the student leaders for their willingness to reconcile and urged them to set aside tribal, regional and political differences. He encouraged the students to work together in the interest of unity and national cohesion, highlighting their role as future leaders of South Sudan.
It was agreed that the Embassy will hold a follow up meeting within one to two weeks to discuss the details of reconciliation and the steps for forming a unified student union in Kenya.
The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting South Sudanese youth and initiatives that promote peace, inclusivity, and leadership development among students abroad.
