(JUBA) – Stanbic Bank has marked International Youth Day 2025 with a financial contribution to support digital skills and leadership training for young women in the country.

The bank presented a cheque worth 4,500 US dollars, equivalent to about 20,700,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP), to Scenius Hub for the Banat Initiative for Leadership and Digital Development (BiLDD) Alumni Office. The office oversees training cohorts for the BiLDD programme, which is run by the National Communication Authority (NCA) to promote digital literacy among women and girls.

The initiative provides structured training aimed at equipping participants with practical digital skills, enabling them to pursue leadership opportunities and engage more actively in the country’s growing digital economy.

Speaking at the presentation, Dr Margaret Labanya, Head of Corporate at the NCA, emphasised the importance of partnerships in expanding access to digital learning. She said the alumni office plays a vital role in ensuring continued support and mentorship for graduates.

The event was attended by senior representatives from Stanbic Bank, including Alam Chaat, Head of Diversified Sector, as well as programme partners and alumni. Among those present were Nelson Kwaje, Managing Director of Digital Rights Frontlines, Poni Henry, Programme Coordinator for BiLDD and Aluet Garang, Lead Alumni and Digital Literacy Trainer, who is also a graduate of BiLDD Cohort 2.

Stanbic Bank said its support reflects its commitment to building pathways to digital inclusion and empowering the next generation. The bank has been working with local partners to promote financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and digital skills development as part of its corporate social responsibility agenda.

The BiLDD programme is one of several initiatives in South Sudan aimed at reducing the gender gap in digital access. Organisers say that with more targeted investment, women and girls will be better placed to take advantage of technology driven opportunities in education, business, and civic engagement.
