(JUBA) – The Ministry of Trade and Industry has officially reopened its renovated offices in Juba, in a development that staff described as a fresh start for one of South Sudan’s most important economic institutions.
The ceremony, held on 18 September 2025, was attended by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon Atong Kuol Manyang Juuk, along with senior officials including the Technical Advisor and Undersecretary. Staff members expressed gratitude for the upgrade, saying the refurbished office will improve the ministry’s working environment and service delivery.
The ministry extended special appreciation to the engineering team, led by Mr Nhial Ruach, who completed the renovation works ahead of schedule. Staff also acknowledged the support of colleagues who continued providing assistance throughout the project, ensuring the office remained functional despite the disruption.
Hon Ustaz Yel Luol Koor, the Undersecretary, was praised for his supervision and leadership during the renovation. His regular oversight was credited with helping the project meet its deadlines.
Minister Kuol was described by staff as a leader with vision, committed not only to improving office facilities but also to driving wider reforms within the ministry. Officials said the reopening reflects her determination to strengthen the institution’s capacity to support trade and private sector growth in South Sudan.
A statement of the Trade Ministry’s communication platforms noted that the renovation, though modest in scale, is part of broader efforts by the ministry to modernise its operations and provide better support to small and medium businesses:
With South Sudan working to diversify its economy beyond oil, the Ministry of Trade and Industry is expected to play a central role in encouraging private investment and promoting cross border commerce.
