(POKROVSK, DONETSK REGION, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian BM 21 Grad multiple launch rocket system battery during a coordinated operation in the Pokrovsk sector, according to official statements released on 19 March.

Russian forces had been using the rocket systems regularly to strike Ukrainian positions in the area. Ukrainian officials said the latest operation significantly reduced the enemy’s ability to conduct such attacks.

The targeted equipment was located within the area of responsibility of the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces. The operation involved joint analytical planning between Lasar’s Group of the National Guard of Ukraine and the 2nd Battalion “Shchedryk” of the 411th Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion.

Reconnaissance units from the Shchedryk battalion identified the location of the Russian systems and provided targeting data. This information enabled Lasar’s Group to prepare and execute the strike.

Drone units were then deployed to engage the targets. Ukrainian forces carried out precision strikes that destroyed six BM 21 Grad systems, equivalent to a full battery.

Officials said the coordinated action between Lasar’s Group and the Shchedryk battalion reduced pressure on Ukrainian infantry positions by limiting Russian artillery capabilities in the sector.

Footage released by Lasar’s Group of the National Guard of Ukraine showed the drone strikes hitting the Russian systems and destroying the equipment.
