(BENTIU) – The Governor of Unity State, H.E. Justice Riek Bim Top, has urged all administrative officers working across the state to prioritise professionalism, discipline, and integrity in their roles. He made the call on Wednesday, 2 July 2025, during an orientation event that also included the distribution of uniforms to administrative staff.
The event, held in Bentiu, was attended by key government officials including the State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement, Hon. Tot Dhiaydor Turoal, and the Governor’s Legal Advisor, Dr. Saaman Chuotyeir.
In his address, Governor Bim Top reminded civil servants that administrative officers are at the core of effective state governance and are expected to carry out their duties with transparency and responsibility. “Administrative officers are the backbone of any government and play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the state. Your duties must represent the best interests of the people,” he said.
Governor Bim stressed that public service is not just a job but a responsibility that requires loyalty to the public, adherence to laws, and commitment to truth. He emphasised that officers must not act in ways that compromise their role or bring disrepute to the government.
In line with improving service delivery, the Governor also promised future training and capacity building programmes aimed at equipping officers with the skills they need to serve better. These programmes, he said, will be designed to support both new and experienced staff in navigating modern governance challenges.
Minister Tot Dhiaydor also addressed the gathering, urging all officers to uphold honesty and to fully cooperate with directives from the state government. He stated that loyalty to public service and following government policy are essential for a stable and accountable administration.
Dr. Saaman Chuotyeir, the legal advisor to the governor, echoed the importance of the administrators’ roles in society. He described administrative officers as the “cadres of government” who are essential for building order and structure in communities across Unity State.
Governor Bim concluded by encouraging the officers to serve all citizens equally, regardless of background or status, and to lead by example in their communities.
