(JUBA) – The South Sudan Revenue Authority has appointed Jackline Adut Deng as Commissioner for Corporate Services, marking the first time a woman has taken on this senior role within the institution. The appointment followed an administrative order issued by Commissioner General William Anyuon Kuol on 26 November 2025, which reassigned several senior officials.

Jackline began work on 27 November 2025 and now leads a division that manages internal systems, staff welfare and organisational efficiency. Her arrival follows the tenure of former Commissioner Kiir Yor, who assumed the position in January. Her appointment has been viewed as a significant development in the Authority’s efforts to broaden leadership and improve performance.

Those familiar with her work describe Jackline as a calm and dedicated professional with a strong record of direct engagement and practical leadership. She previously served as Deputy Commissioner for Taxpayer Service and Education, where she helped improve the way the institution communicates with taxpayers and worked to build wider public understanding of tax compliance.

Her experience extends across a range of government bodies and international organisations. She has worked with IOM, CARE International, World Vision, UNHCR, the National Pre Transitional Committee and the Office of the President. Colleagues note that she has consistently shown professionalism and a results focused approach throughout her career.

Jackline’s educational background includes a Diploma in Human Resources, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management, a Master’s degree in Governance and Leadership, and a second Master’s degree in International Relations, Peace and Security Studies. Her academic path reflects the increasing presence of South Sudanese women in senior public roles and areas linked to national development.

Speaking shortly after assuming office, she said her first priority is improving staff welfare. She explained that strong internal systems depend on well supported staff and clear policies that allow the organisation to progress. She also stressed the importance of teamwork, saying coordinated work is essential for effective revenue mobilisation and increased national revenue.

Her colleagues have responded positively to her appointment. Chief Public Relations Officer Juan Charles, who worked directly with her, said she is a leader who listens carefully, supports her team and helps junior officers build confidence. He said her leadership approach encourages staff to grow and remain productive.
