(JUBA) – The management of the Bahr El Ghazal Peace Tournament (BCPT), led by Chairperson Cde. Majok Ayar Chieny, held a consultative meeting today with the presidents of 23 counties from the Bahr El Ghazal region.
The meeting, which took place at the South Sudan Hotel in Buluk, focused on rescheduling BCPT fixtures to accommodate the demands of the upcoming South Sudan Premier League.
During the discussions, county presidents and BCPT officials agreed to introduce a one day rest period between matches. This change was requested by football clubs participating in the national league, which are keen to have their players available for both competitions. The adjustment aims to ensure that the BCPT group stage will be completed before the Premier League season begins.
The decision was reached unanimously, with all county representatives recognising the need to avoid fixture clashes and to allow players adequate rest. BCPT management emphasised that close cooperation between the tournament organisers and county presidents is essential to delivering a successful event.
Organisers also called on fans to maintain a positive and peaceful atmosphere throughout the tournament, highlighting that the BCPT is designed to promote unity among the people of South Sudan.
“This tournament is more than football. It is about peace, friendship, and community,” the BCPT leadership noted.
In a separate outcome from the meeting, BCPT management and officials from Gogrial West County confirmed they had resolved recent disagreements. Both sides committed to working together constructively to support the tournament’s objectives.
An important highlight for supporters is that the BCPT final will be played at the Juba National Stadium, offering a central and high profile venue for the conclusion of the competition.
The BCPT is known for drawing large crowds and fostering regional camaraderie, is expected to benefit from the revised schedule, which balances competitive football with national league commitments.
