Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel stressed the importance of lawmakers serving the citizens of South Sudan with dedication and distinction in a recent meeting with the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the National Assembly, Jemma Nunu Kumba.
Dr. Bol Mel emphsised the need for legislation that is responsive to the daily needs of citizens and reflects the nation’s aspirations. He reminded Speaker Kumba of President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s message regarding the pivotal role of lawmakers in promoting peace, unity, and prosperity in the country.
Speaker Kumba outlined the Assembly’s ongoing efforts to focus on laws that protect rights, promote development, and enhance the wellbeing of South Sudanese citizens. She highlighted the importance of prioritizing laws with tangible benefits for communities nationwide.
Dr. Bol Mel emphasized the significance of close collaboration between the Executive and Legislature for South Sudan’s development, stating that progress in governance, justice, economic growth, and national unity can be achieved through a coordinated approach.
