(JUBA) – The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has carried out a corporate governance training for its Board of Directors and selected executive directors at its headquarters in Juba. The one day session held on Tuesday, 9 September 2025, was designed to strengthen leadership within the country’s aviation sector by building a deeper understanding of corporate governance and the responsibilities of public sector leaders.
The training introduced board members and executives to the principles of governance, fiduciary duties and ethical standards. Participants were guided on how to distinguish the roles of board members from those of management and how to create effective structures and processes to ensure transparency in decision making.
According to the organisers, the session provided participants with practical tools to support oversight, accountability, and performance monitoring. It also laid the foundation for a strong governance framework that will guide the authority’s future strategic direction.
The training highlighted the importance of integrity and accountability in managing a critical institution such as the Civil Aviation Authority, which plays a central role in ensuring the safety, regulation, and growth of air transport in South Sudan.
Strengthening leadership in this sector is seen as essential for building investor confidence, supporting trade and tourism, and aligning South Sudan with international aviation standards.
The authority said this exercise was part of its ongoing efforts to build internal leadership capacity and to enhance compliance with international governance and aviation requirements.
According to a statement on corporate social platforms, it reinforced the SSCAA’s commitment to promoting transparency, ethical leadership, and effective regulation in the country’s growing aviation sector.
