(MARIDI COUNTY) – South Sudan’s Minister for General Education and Instructions, Dr Kuyok Abol Kuyok, has reaffirmed government plans to set up a National Curriculum Development Institute in Maridi County, Western Equatoria State, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s education system.
The Minister made the remarks during an official tour of Maridi County to assess mid-year academic progress in national institutions. He was accompanied by a team of senior directors from the ministry.
Upon arrival at Maridi Airstrip, Dr Kuyok and his delegation were received by local authorities and a large group of school learners. The team later held a meeting with the County Commissioner before beginning visits to several learning institutions.
The delegation toured Maridi Girls Boarding Secondary School, the National Teachers Training Institute in Maridi, and Ibba Girls Boarding School. Administrators and students from the three institutions presented detailed reports on the current status of their schools, highlighting both achievements and ongoing challenges.
Following the tour, Dr Kuyok expressed appreciation for the resilience and dedication shown by the schools’ administrations. He commended them for continuing to provide education despite resource constraints and other difficulties.
The Minister assured the schools that the government remains committed to strengthening national institutions in Maridi. He stressed that a new national curriculum would be essential to improving learning outcomes and raising education standards across South Sudan.
