(JUBA) – The Ministry of General Education and Instruction has released the 2024 Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) examination results, naming the top ten performers, best schools, and giving a state-level performance breakdown. The release, delayed for months due to financial constraints, marks one of the most anticipated education announcements in South Sudan.
Leading the rankings was Philip Manyok Ayuen from Greenbelt Academy in Jonglei State, who scored 91.6 percent. He was followed closely by Murye Anthony Duku Toe from Haven High School, an institution based in an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp, with 91.4 percent.
More than 48,000 students sat for the exams, but 23.7 percent failed to meet the pass mark.

Subject analysis showed that Chemistry, Principles of Accounts, and Arabic Language had the weakest performances, while Agriculture, Computer Science, Physics, Islamic Religion, English Literature, and Citizenship recorded improvements.
The Ministry also named the best schools, dominated by institutions from Jonglei and Central Equatoria.

The data shows that Central Equatoria dominated the top performers list, followed by Jonglei State, while IDP camp-based Haven High School also made a remarkable showing with two students among the top ten, including the best female candidate.
Education Minister Kuyok Abol Kuyok apologised for the unprecedented delay in the release, blaming budgetary constraints. He pledged that future results would be processed more efficiently to avoid similar setbacks.
The announcement has been widely welcomed across the country as students, parents, and teachers can now proceed with future plans.
