(Kuacjok) – Ambassador Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, a former South Sudanese diplomat and longstanding member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), visited Kuacjok in Warrap State on June 30, 2025, in what officials described as a symbolic act of unity and loyalty to the party’s founding principles.

The visit, which began in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State, saw Ambassador Gatkuoth and his delegation accompany Warrap State Governor Bol Wek Agoth by road to Kuacjok, before continuing to Akon, the hometown of President Salva Kiir Mayardit. The journey was marked by peaceful conditions along the road and within local communities, indicating growing stability in the region.

Though not holding any current political office, Gatkuoth’s presence reveals his ongoing engagement in national affairs and commitment to the SPLM’s vision. His supporters and political observers have pointed to his active role in supporting political discipline and national unity, particularly within his home area of Upper Nile and across other parts of the country.

“Ambassador Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth sets a powerful example for the youth and emerging leaders of our nation,” one member of the visiting delegation remarked. “He shows that loyalty to a cause and national service can go beyond government positions.”

Known for his diplomatic work and ideological conviction, Gatkuoth has remained a vocal supporter of the SPLM’s founding principles, even as the party navigates internal challenges and shifting national dynamics.

His emphasis on political clarity, unity, and service continues to resonate among segments of the party base.

Governor Bol Wek Agoth, who hosted the ambassador during the visit, expressed appreciation for the support and cooperation shown by political veterans in promoting cohesion within the SPLM and among the people of Warrap.

He stressed that the collaboration between current leadership and experienced statesmen was vital as the country prepares for future political transitions.

The peaceful reception in Kuacjok and the surrounding areas highlighted the improving security situation in Warrap, and by extension, in parts of the country previously affected by instability.

Some residents saw the visit as a hopeful sign of renewed national focus on reconciliation, political maturity and ideological clarity.
