The community of Kuac Ayok in Gogrial West county, Warrap State, is grieving the loss of Late Mayol Akeer who tragically passed away due to excessive milk consumption on Wednesday.
The untimely death occurred as the late Mayol Akeer prepared for the Dinka annual fattening competition.
Following the customary practices and traditions, a burial ceremony was held at the cattle camp in honour of the deceased.
Late Mayol Akeer was posthumously declared the winner of the 2025 competition, a title celebrated by the entire community.
In accordance with tradition, the burial took place at the cattle camp after the selection of the runner up.
The Dinka culture involves young men undergoing a three month period of drinking milk before participating in the fattening competition.
This event holds great significance as one of the enduring and historical practices of the Dinka tribe throughout the country.
