(JUBA) – The Embassy of India in Juba has confirmed that four South Sudanese professionals have been selected to join the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme, one of India’s principal training and capacity building initiatives for developing countries.
The participants, Ms Tabu Victoria Yona Matayo, Mr Emmanuel John Kisima Naoh, Ms Nancy Eluzai Manasseh Reme and Mr Duwa Edward Simon Korsuk, will travel to India to begin specialised training in various fields aimed at strengthening skills and professional competence. The embassy congratulated the group and wished them success as they begin their studies.
The ITEC Programme, launched in 1964, provides training opportunities to countries across the Global South, with a focus on technology, public administration, finance, and development planning. India views the programme as a way of sharing its experience with partner countries, including South Sudan, which has continued to send participants in recent years.
The Embassy of India stated that the four newest beneficiaries will contribute to South Sudan’s development upon their return, bringing back practical skills that can support public and private sector growth.
South Sudan has benefited from several rounds of ITEC training, which often include short term and medium term courses delivered by Indian institutions. These opportunities continue to attract interest from young South Sudanese professionals seeking international exposure and technical expertise.
