(JUBA) – Israel has pledged humanitarian assistance worth up to one million Israeli shekels, approximately USD 296,000, to support civilians in South Sudan.

The announcement was made by Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel during her historic visit to the country. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Eye Radio on Wednesday, August 13, Haskel said the aid package includes both food and medical supplies to address urgent needs.

“Having good friends that can support and work with us is very important,” Haskel stated, emphasising the value of international collaboration. She added that Israel is aware of the difficulties faced by South Sudanese people and is committed to helping alleviate their challenges.

During her visit, Haskel also toured an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) previously donated by Israel, highlighting ongoing cooperation between the two nations. She noted that additional projects are being considered and signalled Israel’s commitment to long term partnership and continued humanitarian support.
