(JUBA) – Juba International Airport has completed its new parking facilities, a key step in the ongoing upgrade of South Sudan’s main aviation hub, as construction of both passenger terminals enters its final phase.

Airport authorities confirmed that the parking areas are now fully operational and ready to serve passengers, staff and visitors. The new facilities are expected to improve access to the airport and reduce congestion around the terminal areas, supporting smoother movement of vehicles within the airport precinct.

The completion of the parking infrastructure comes as terminal construction nears conclusion. Management says the upgraded terminals reflect modern design standards and improved infrastructure, positioning Juba International Airport to better serve domestic and international travellers.

Under the leadership of General Manager Mojesty Kat, the airport has undergone steady physical and operational improvements. The near completion of the terminals is viewed as a milestone in efforts to modernise aviation infrastructure in South Sudan.

Airport management noted that the upgrades are not limited to aesthetics but are designed to improve efficiency and service delivery. The new facilities are expected to increase the airport’s capacity to handle rising passenger numbers and support more reliable airport operations.

Improved access and traffic flow are also expected to benefit airlines, logistics companies and other businesses that rely on the airport. As South Sudan’s primary air gateway, Juba International Airport plays a central role in passenger travel, cargo movement and regional connectivity.

The airport upgrade is seen as supportive of broader economic activity, particularly trade and investment, by improving links between South Sudan and regional and international markets.

Key recent developments at Juba International Airport include:

Facility Status
Parking facilities Completed and operational
Passenger terminals Near completion
Access and traffic flow Improved

With parking facilities now complete and terminal works approaching the finish line, Juba International Airport is positioned to take on a stronger role in supporting air travel and commercial activity. The modernisation programme is expected to contribute to the long term growth of South Sudan’s aviation sector and improve the country’s connectivity with the wider region.
