(Juba) – Eleven young South Sudanese women who were once without proper parental care have graduated with diplomas and certificates after years of support through a joint initiative between The Forgotten Ones (TFO) and Confident Children Out of Conflict (CCC).
Their achievement marks a major step forward in their lives and in the broader effort to empower vulnerable youth in South Sudan.
These girls who were taken under the care of a Good Samaritan in Kampala in 2017 were supported with shelter, education, and life skills training.
After years of dedication and resilience, they have successfully completed various professional courses and earned qualifications that will help them rebuild their futures. Their studies include fields such as social work, hairdressing, catering, fashion design and computer literacy.
Now, many of them have returned to Juba with renewed hope, but they face a new challenge – finding jobs. The organisations behind the programme are appealing to companies, government institutions, NGOs, and the general public to assist by offering job opportunities to these young women.
According to programme organisers, providing employment is a reward for their hard work and also a long term investment in building a stronger, self reliant generation in South Sudan.
“These girls are no longer victims of circumstance. They are skilled young women ready to contribute to society,” said a representative of the initiative.
Supporters are encouraged to contact the initiative directly via the following numbers: +211 91 007 7776 or +211 92 169 0692 for employment offers or partnership opportunities.
