(JUBA COUNTY) – Ladu Saeed has been re-elected unopposed as the Commissioner General of the South Sudan Scout Association (SSSA), marking his second consecutive term as the top national scout executive. The announcement was made following elections held on Saturday 16 August 2025 in the capital, Juba.
Saeed will be deputized by Jackilne Ago, the first female and youngest scout to hold a deputy position since the establishment of the South Sudan Scout Association. Her election is seen as a milestone in promoting youth and gender representation in the national scout leadership.
Speaking after the election, the Minister of Information and renewed chairman of the scout board, Michael Makuei Lueth, urged the new executive team to reject tribalism and work to strengthen the spirit of nationalism across the country. He described political tribalism as a threat to national unity and pledged the support of both the national and state governments to ensure scouts have the resources and backing to achieve their objectives.
The newly re-elected Commissioner General, Ladu Saeed, outlined his priorities, beginning with Yei, where scouting was first established in South Sudan. He also plans to focus on Lafon in Eastern Equatoria, a region where youth have been reportedly used to fuel conflicts. Saeed emphasised the need to guide young people towards positive civic engagement and community service.
The new leadership is expected to strengthen the role of scouts in promoting leadership, national unity, and social cohesion among the youth across South Sudan.
