(NIMULE, EASTERN EQUATORIA) – Officials from Nimule Municipality, Immigration, Customs, and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) conducted a site visit to the One-Stop Border Post (OSBP) construction project, a €10 million initiative funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with UNOPS and TradeMark Africa. The project is designed to enhance trade, improve border efficiency, and support South Sudan’s economic growth.
Mayor Caesar Longa Fuli commended the development partners for their continued support and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to leveraging international cooperation for the benefit of South Sudanese citizens. The OSBP, strategically located at the South Sudan–Uganda border, aims to streamline customs and immigration procedures, reduce delays, increase revenue collection, and expand socio-economic opportunities.
A key feature of the project is the inclusion of a women’s market, reflecting the government’s focus on gender-responsive development and inclusive economic growth. Mayor Fuli said the project “heralds an economic and social renaissance, generating opportunities and reinforcing our regional stability aspirations.”
The Nimule OSBP aligns with the East African Community’s vision for seamless borders and regional prosperity. Officials noted that the project will serve as a model for South Sudan’s commitment to continental integration, trade expansion, and partnership development.
